The farmer's protests in India are going well and Modi's seemingly on the ropes. 117 – The Jakarta Method by Vincent Bevins (Part III)

We finish our final third of Vincent Bevins' The Jakarta Method: Washington's Anticommunist Crusade and the Mass Murder Program that Shaped Our World about some of the most pivotal yet hugely unsung hinge points in the Cold War, centered around the mass slaughter of communists (and those alleged to be) in Indonesia circa 1965-66. We discuss the spread of anticommunist massacres in Chile, the Philippines, Argentina, Guatemala and beyond and try to take stock of what the whole Cold War period of installing murderous proxy dictatorships around the globe really amounted to and what it left us with at present.

116 – Chasing Our Tails Until Extinction & Enjoying the Circus Music Along the Way

Get exploited in your dreams for free. More and more people just might be noticing some fundamental problems but are still a million light years from a general strike or even a Howard Beale “Mad as hell” moment. Climate summits are mainly just monstrous wastes of time and energy, all the way down to the subatomic level. Climate science has spoken on the voodoo of “net zero.” Kyle Tollhouse Porterhouse did etc, and his judge/manservant loves him enough to ban zooming in on crucial video footage for, uh, reasons and, er, 'logarithms.' A lawyer stalked a beach as a storm approached, dressed as The Shape in order to be a beacon of positivity. Kamala Harris 2024: “Together we must work together to do things together.

We continue our Book Club series on Vincent Bevins' The Jakarta Method: Washington's Anticommunist Crusade and the Mass Murder Program that Shaped Our World about some of the most pivotal yet hugely unsung hinge points in the Cold War, centered around the mass slaughter of communists (and those alleged to be) in Indonesia circa 1965-66. We draw more parallels between the Brazilian coup of 1964 and the Indonesian coup of the following year and dive into more gruesome realities and chains of evidence connecting the US government to these events.

114 – One Great Big Festering Neon American Restroom Association

Biden is the new FDR, 'cept he's still got his functioning gams, jack! Some piece of shit judge wants to smooch with and make tender love to Kyle Rittenhouse. New psychological study says we're thought more highly of than we'll ever know. Some proto-Banksy enacted the inverse of Project Mayhem by covertly changing traffic signs on an LA freeway. The great Dave Anthony gives us a valuable scientific/political lesson and gets to slag Matty “One Billion American (Slaves) Needed” Yglesias along the way. CRT? More like See Me Pee (on the street because even toilets must be solely engines of capital consolidation). Also, the pinko commie rag The Economist reports on scientific findings indicating that two to four times as many people have died from coronavirus than the official number states. Long Covid is revealing itself to be more and more responsible for serious cognitive malfunction.

000 – A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) – Commentary Track

This is one of the of seven commentaries recorded on Halloween 2021 for the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise commentary marathon we did. We’re now designating movie commentaries as exclusively for patrons of our aptly named ‘patreon’. But since we just started we thought we’d make at least one or two of them ‘public’ to see if anyone’s interested.

On Halloween Day 2021 we did a seamless marathon viewing of all six (canon) entries in the A Nightmare on Elm Street movie franchise, from the game-changing innovation of the 1984 Wes Craven original all the way to the gobsmackingly chintzy, bizarre, it’s-the-90s-now, LooneyTunes-esque, tonally-clashing 1991 Final Nightmare: Freddy’s Dead.

While still in the Nightmare mindset, Josh watched 1994’s New Nightmare and commented upon this non-canon, highly metafictional, full-circle return of Wes Craven, which pointed strongly toward the next step in popular horror cinema, 1996’s Scream.

  • JD's Recommendation: Hellbound (TRAILER)
  • JNM's Recommendation: Call the Department of Justice and leave a message in support of Steven Donziger.  Call 202 353 1555 and leave this message, as recommended by Steven himself:
Mr. Attorney General I am calling on behalf of Steve Donziger and the values of our country to ask that you not let a corporate private prosecution take place in the United States that clearly violates the rule of law. All you need to do is one simple thing: take the case out of Chevron's hands and take it over directly yourself via the DOJ. Review it if you want or dismiss the charges as was the original decision by the DOJ but you can't let a private prosecution take place. Please take back the case and stop this unprecedented prosecution that has been condemned by members of Congress, 68 Nobel laureates, Greenpeace, the United Nations, and Amnesty International.
